My name is Marabeth Quin and I’m an artist from Nashville, Tennessee. I have been painting for many years, but it was only a little over three years ago that I began to take myself seriously as a painter and put my work out into the world. Being 42 years old at the time, maybe it was some mid-life resolve that helped me take the plunge, or possibly the fact that my kids were growing into beautiful, independent young adults that led me to suddenly see myself in a different light; my days of hands-on motherhood are numbered and that phase of my life without children to raise was suddenly yawning before me and I saw that it was time to create my future.
When I moved to Nashville as a young girl of twenty-one, I was fortunate and met the right people which allowed me to quickly be able to eek out a living singing in the studio. Being a session singer is an incredibly interesting and rewarding job and I have been so grateful for it. The musicians I have worked with over the last 20+ years have enlarged my life and given me lifelong friendships and memories.
But some years ago, the challenge was gone and I began to crave an activity that I had not done in decades–since childhood. I laugh now thinking about how hard and terrifying it was to make myself go to an art store and buy some paper and pastels! But I did and I use the memory of that now whenever I am scared to do something–look what happened simply because I overcame my fear and put pastel to paper.
Someone once described my work as ‘Happiness on Canvas’ and I could not be more flattered with that assessment. My life, in a word, is all about happiness. Happiness is my work, not painting. And out of that place, I find this broad, beautiful planet to be so full of inspiration that I cannot help myself–I must co-create with it and paint. Please be my guest and visit my world of art at www.marabethquin.com. I would be honored with your visit.

Hi Marabeth,
I love your work! I have seen you and your work at Harding last year. I am a parent at Oak Hill School – have a first grader there, and also mom to a 4 1/2 and 11 month old. I am putting together the art auction as part of Oak Hill’s Singer./Songwriter’s Night. Only art will be auctioned off to benefit the school that night. Would love if you would consider participating by making a donation for the event. I would want to include information about you, your work, and upcoming shows as well. Thank you for your consideration, and please contact me with any questions and for more details. The event will be in February.
Very best,
Heather COrts
